Is it loud? Thinking to have lunch in midtown where we can have a conversation

      A:

It is not too loud. I was able to have a conversation with my husband, however, there are several televisions on the wall, so if there is a popular game on, it may attract a crowd.

I recently made dinner reservations at Sean's for a large event dinner and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The team was fantastic in meeting my groups needs and communicated every step of the way. Reservations were easy and the space was perfect for our needs. Service was totally on point. The location is centrally located and was easy to reach for out of town guests.

Food was really great. I personally had the chicken pot pie which was fresh and delicious. Our dinner included a prefix menu and there were no complaints about any of the options. Food was prepared quickly and the group had a great time over drinks and bites in the upstairs area and it was all incredibly affordable.

This place is really a hidden gem with authentic Irish pub vibes. Thank you to Sean's for giving us such a wonderful time out. It was a welcomed relief in post pandemic world.

This was our last meal before leaving NYC, and it was a good one! We'd been in the area around Rockefeller Center to check out Christmas decorations, which was absolutely packed.

We tried a couple of restaurants, but the waits were too long for us. We walked a few blocks & happened upon Sean's Bar & Kitchen.

At first, my daughter laughingly refused to eat here because of a "not nice guy" from her past named Sean. But... we were hungry & needed to head to the airport in a few hours. So I convinced her to give Sean's a shot. We were glad we did!

I had the Gaelic burger, which was delicious with its sautéed onions and cheese. My daughter selected the chicken pot pie, and it was delicious as well.

Sean's is an authentic Irish pub & most of the employees were clearly Irish based on their accents. I'd highly recommend Sean's if you're in the Midtown area!

My latest experience at Sean's Bar was extremely disappointing. I had made a reservation for 13 people for a Friday night at 7:30 pm to celebrate my birthday, only to have a terrible encounter with the host. When someone from my party arrived, they were told there was no such reservation, and I faced the same response upon my arrival. It was only when I insisted I had called earlier that Tuesday to reserve a table, the host checked their reservation book and that's when my reservation was discovered. They then claimed that I had reserved drinks only, not dinner, which was not the case.

To address this issue, I contacted the General Manager over the weekend, who assured me she would speak to the staff and get back to me on Monday. However, I never received any communication from them. This level of unprofessionalism and lack of accountability is truly disappointing and does not reflect well on the establishment. My birthday celebration was marred by this experience, and I would caution others to be wary of making reservations at Sean's Bar.

We went for breakfast shortly they opened at 9 am. We were the only people there at the time, but it didn't necessarily feel like they were prepared to serve people.

The menu online was a little different than the options they offered in the actual restaurant. Also, the pictures on the menu in restaurant will really make you question your choice in restaurants. Pictures online are FAR better. Definitely hope they update the menu copies they offer in restaurant, because it was a little off putting and confusing.

Only 1 of 2 people ended up ordering - waffle was fluffy and nicely presented, but a little bit dry. No one ever came back to check in to refill drinks or give us the check after we were finished with the food for a while.

Definitely smelled like a well loved bar - cleaning supply smell was strong that early in the morning.

Wish we would've given this a try during lunch/dinner time because I do think it would be better than 3 stars, unfortunately this rating wasn't based on the experience we had.

Walked in, and headed to the bar to enjoy some drinks and take it easy. The place was busy and looked like it was a hot spot based upon all the folks that were inside and outside enjoying their drinks and food.

I ordered my drink and for appetizer, got my favorite - calamari. Sadly, the calamari was over fried and thus it was chewy to consume.

The service was great, the bartenders were on top of their game, kept checking in on me, making sure I was good. Giving 4 stars because of the bartenders working that day - their friendliness, professionalism and attention during the busy hours was awesome!

As soon as I walked in, a whiff of damp mop sweat smell mixed with hot air greets me.

My cleanliness consciousness radar is already spiked up. Then, my ankles suddenly became itchy. No sooner than 5 minutes upon sitting down, I felt them and realized 3 large mosquito bites had appeared. These insects are so vile they still itch like mad a couple days later!

Luckily, I didn't face a similar detriment with the food. I got a Passion Martini, which I think was the name. It was more sweet than strong, but I enjoyed the fruity candy taste. It also came with a shot of prosecco.

I didn't look into the food, so I was surprised to see our Everything in the Kitchen Sink ($35) actually come in a sink! The sink contained every bar fried food you can imagine, from wings to onion rings to mozzarella sticks. I love that there's a sauce holder on the sides, and they sure provided pretty much any common sauce you would need. Everything definitely needed sauce. I'm an onion rings girl, and I particularly enjoyed them here.

While the food wasn't terrible, I think we were deterred from ordering more given the questionable environment.

      Thursday - 5:30pm

We went at prime time happy hour and sat outside to take advantage of the nice weather . They did have seating outing which isn't as nice as the other places I passed on the block . Moreover , there were too many mosquitoes as they had the fake plants and there's no air circulation ( I asked if they could turn on the fan but the Gentleman told the server it's not possible . My first ask was if we can sit at another table which he also didn't approve of so I wasn't surprised he didn't accommodate my asking to turn on the fan ).

More than an hour is enough if you're outside because of the mosquitoes, we just had to finish eating the food ( chicken tenders , wings , waffle fries nachos and fish and chips - all mediocre and typical pub food ) .

I support businesses and encourage patrons to support restaurants but business owners should also try to understand with the slew of competition, they need to really step up their game . Lovely server , she gets two thumbs up ( young , friendly )

A friend and I stopped by Sean's Bar & Kitchen on a Monday evening around 7 PM EST. We were surprised that it was not super crowded and noisy that meant we could have a conversation without yelling at each other. Haha!

Totally enjoyed the Irish vibes in an Irish owned bar located in the heart of NYC. Sean's Bar & Kitchen is not too far away from major NYC's attractions such as the Rockefeller Center and Radio City.

Such a spacious bar with loads of seats by the bar as well as tables and Booths. I was very impressed by their chandelier.

The waiters and waitress were very attentive and bubbly. They'd greeted us with smiles then took us to our seats of choice.

Sean's Bar & Kitchen's menu has the typical bar kinda fast food options with loads of draft beer and IPA's selection.

My friend and I decided to ordered these appetizers:
      - Buffalo Chicken Fingers
      - Truffle French Fries

Their appetizers are quite huge and definitely shareable for a party of two.

We were there for the Sean's House Beer's and IPA's.

      We'd tried the following IPA's:
      - Sean's Lager
      - Sean's Pilsner
      - Sean's Porter
      - Sean's Wheat
      - Sean's IPA

I was very pleased that both the food and house drinks were fairly affordable.

Must definitely a friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy the Irish vibes and bar life in NYC.

We stopped by here for a late night snack and drinks. We were happy they were still serving food even though it was 11 pm already. We got the chicken tenders with buffalo sauce and fried pickle chips. The chicken tenders were standard but the perfect late night bite. Would definitely get them again. The fried pickle chips were just alright. The pickles were cut so thinly you can barely even taste them. It just tasted like breading. After a while we just took off the breading and ate the small amounts of pickle inside. We would probably skip this next time. Overall a great, reliable bar!

If this was your neighborhood spot, it'd be worthy of 3 stars - an "elevated" Applebee's if you will.

But for the disneyfied, crowded, touristy hell that is midtown (especially at Xmas): Sean's is a cut above.

On the last weekend before Xmas, we only had to wait 5-10 minutes to get a table for 5. Don't get me wrong, the place was bustling and the service somewhat spotty at times, but it's run a lot better than nearby "Bill's."

The food is probably better and more diverse than their rival as well: I had the Irish chicken curry and ate the entire thing! It's not spicy, but it's a touch sweet. Very good.

Nikki's Gaelic burger did NOT come out mid-rare as requested. Rather it was over cooked and fairly flavorless in my opinion. She doesn't like to make a fuss so she ate it. They offer gluten-free buns which is an awesome plus. Small upcharge but not too bad, $2-3.

My brother in law had the Irish stew and my sister had the shepherds pie. I think they cleaned their plates too. Nephew had chicken fingers, they seemed fine.

The drinks were good and they offer their own private label beer that purportedly comes from the emerald Isle. I don't remember the total for 5, I think each entree was $20 or less which isn't bad for the area.

Highly recommend and it's kid friendly.
